Brigitte Balbinot

Brigitte Balbinot

Additional Information

Self-taught artist, Brigitte Balbinot, is originally from Switzerland. Her work is predominately nature inspired and is driven by a sense of place; alluding to the nostalgia of time passed and life, impermanent.

Balbinot works in oil and cold wax and hot wax, also known as encaustic painting.

These labor intensive  techniques allow her to create intricate organic surfaces while their complexity emphasizes the physicality of the material itself.

The artist is currently working on three series that are about earth, water, and sky; elements that share common universal laws.

Balbinot's work can be found in private collections as well as in commercial spaces in both North America and Europe.

She divides her time between her South Florida and Quebec studios while traveling back to Europe yearly.
